AMS 4940 Titanium CP Grade 1

Titanium CP Grade 1 (Commercially Pure Grade 1) is an unalloyed titanium grade known for its excellent corrosion resistance, high ductility, and good strength retention. It is 30% stronger than steel but nearly 50% lighter. Although aluminum is lighter, titanium is stronger and has excellent strength retention. Due to its weight, strength, and high corrosion resistance, gr1 titanium is very popular in aerospace, medical, shipping, military, and various manufacturing industries.

Titanium Grades 1-4 are unalloyed and generally known as CP (Commercially Pure). The tensile and yield strength of titanium generally increases with the grade number. Grade 1 titanium has the lowest strength but the highest ductility among the CP grades.
