GR9 titanium alloy possesses a series of advantages, including high specific strength, excellent corrosion resistance, low density, and good toughness and weldability.1 After solution strengthening treatment, the strength of this titanium alloy increases, but the increase is not significant; the strength in the annealed state is generally around 900 MPa, while the strength after treatment can reach 1100 MPa.
GR9 titanium alloy has been successfully applied in aerospace, petrochemical, shipbuilding, automotive, and pharmaceutical industries, thanks to its unique combination of properties. For example, in the aerospace field, the lightweight and high-strength characteristics of GR9 titanium alloy make it an ideal material for manufacturing aircraft and spacecraft components; in the petrochemical field, its excellent corrosion resistance enables it to resist the erosion of various corrosive media.
Manufacturing Process
Our ASTM B338 GR9 Tube is produced using precision-controlled manufacturing steps to ensure uniformity and reliability:
Billet Preparation – Titanium alloy billets are forged and inspected for internal defects.
Extrusion or Rotary Piercing – The billet is formed into a hollow tube.
Cold Drawing – Achieves final dimensions and enhances mechanical properties.
Annealing – Heat treatment for optimal ductility and reduced residual stresses.
Surface Finishing – Pickling or polishing to ensure a smooth, defect-free surface.
Final Inspection – Ultrasonic, eddy current, and hydrostatic testing according to ASTM B338.
