Although hardening and increased deformation resistance may occur during processing of Gr5 titanium sheet, reasonable process control can result in a high quality product. Cold rolling process can obtain high surface quality, which is very important for some applications where surface finish is required.

Process characteristics
Significant work-hardening: During cold rolling, titanium plates undergo work-hardening, resulting in increased deformation resistance, which is a significant feature of the cold rolling process.
High pressure on rolls: During cold rolling, rolls need to withstand a lot of pressure, which is prone to elastic deformation and wear, and is prone to uneven deformation, resulting in cracked edges of the plate and dimensional non-uniformity.
High requirements for rolls and slabs: in order to obtain high-quality cold rolled Gr5 titanium metal plate, the need to use high finish rolls and good surface condition of the slab, while requiring good lubrication conditions.
