Titanium Rod Grade 7
Grade 7 titanium rods (titanium-palladium alloy) have excellent corrosion resistance in oxidising media. It also exhibits considerable corrosion resistance in reducing media and is particularly suitable for improving crevice corrosion resistance in media with high chloride ion concentrations.Grade 7 titanium round bars contain 0.2% palladium. In 5% boiling sulphuric acid, the use of Grade 7 titanium-palladium alloys reduces the corrosion rate from 48.26 mm/a (industrially pure titanium) to 0.508 mm/a, an increase in corrosion resistance of approximately 95 times.
Titanium Grade 7 is a titanium-palladium alloy containing:
0.12–0.25% Palladium (the key alloying element)
Balance: Commercially Pure Titanium (similar to Grade 2 chemistry)
Trace elements: Iron, Oxygen, Carbon, Nitrogen, Hydrogen
The addition of palladium-a precious metal-dramatically enhances corrosion resistance, particularly in reducing acid environments where standard titanium might experience attack.

Grade 7 titanium alloys have excellent machining, forming and welding properties. Since Grade 7 titanium industrial rods are made from pure titanium with a small amount of the precious metal Pd, the alloy produces excellent corrosion resistance to acidic media. However, the cost of Grade 7 titanium alloys is relatively high due to the presence of the precious metal palladium.

Packaging of Grade 7 titanium rods
