Product Introduction

Brass CNC Machined Parts

Brass CNC machined parts are precision components manufactured from brass alloys using CNC turning, milling, 5-axis machining, and turn-mill processes. Brass is widely selected for CNC machining because of its excellent machinability, good corrosion resistance, low friction, and attractive surface appearance.

We machine brass parts including fittings, bushings, connectors, valve components, pins, shafts, inserts, and custom precision components for plumbing, electrical, automotive, industrial, and automation applications. Common grades include C36000, C26000, C26800, C27000, and C28000.

Key Benefits of Brass CNC Machining:

Excellent machinability for efficient precision machining

Brass Machinability & Grade Selection

Brass grades behave differently during CNC machining. Lead-containing free-machining brass such as C36000 provides excellent chip breaking and high cutting efficiency, making it a preferred choice for precision turned parts. Lead-free or lower-lead grades offer different combinations of strength, ductility, corrosion resistance, and regulatory suitability. Grade selection should therefore consider both machinability and the functional requirements of the finished part.

Brass Grade Machinability Key Properties Best Suited For
C36000 Excellent Excellent chip control, high cutting efficiency, good strength Precision fittings, valve parts, bushings, connectors, threaded components
C26000 Good High ductility, good corrosion resistance, good forming capability Bushings, terminals, electrical components, formed & machined parts
C26800 Good Good machinability, ductility and corrosion resistance Connectors, hardware, fittings, general precision components
C27000 Good Balanced strength, ductility and machinability Pins, spacers, bushings, general CNC components
C28000 Good Higher strength, good corrosion resistance Fittings, valve components, industrial hardware

How to choose:
For high-volume precision turning and complex threaded parts, C36000 is often the first choice because of its superior machinability. For parts requiring more ductility or forming, C26000 and C26800 can be more suitable. Where higher strength is needed, C28000 may be preferred.

Brass CNC Part Surface Finishes

Surface Finish Typical Result Suitable Brass Parts
As Machined Natural brass appearance with visible machining marks Shafts, bushings, fittings, internal components
Polishing Smooth, bright, reflective surface Connectors, decorative hardware, visible components
Brushing Uniform directional satin texture Housings, handles, decorative components
Bead Blasting Fine, uniform matte texture Housings, brackets, equipment components
Nickel Plating Improved wear and corrosion resistance Fittings, connectors, valve components
Chrome Plating Hard, bright protective surface Handles, fittings, exposed hardware
Gold Plating Conductive and decorative finish Electrical contacts, connectors, electronic components

Finish Selection:
For functional brass parts, as-machined or polished finishes are often sufficient. For visible components, polishing or brushing provides a more refined appearance, while nickel, chrome, or gold plating can be selected when additional surface performance is required.

Brass vs. Other CNC Materials

Brass is often selected when machinability, corrosion resistance, low friction, and electrical conductivity need to be balanced. The right material depends on the part's function, operating environment, and required performance.

Property Brass Aluminum Stainless Steel Copper Carbon Steel
Machinability Excellent Excellent Moderate Moderate Good
Strength Moderate–High Moderate High Moderate High
Corrosion Resistance Good Good Excellent Excellent Low–Moderate
Electrical Conductivity Good Moderate Low Excellent Low
Thermal Conductivity Good Excellent Low Excellent Moderate
Friction / Wear Good Moderate Good Moderate Good
Weight High Low High High High
Surface Appearance Excellent Good Excellent Excellent Moderate
Typical CNC Parts Fittings, Bushings, Connectors, Valves Housings, Brackets, Plates Shafts, Housings, Machine Parts Electrical Components, Busbars Shafts, Gears, Structural Parts

When to Choose Brass

Choose Brass for fittings, bushings, connectors, valves, and threaded components requiring excellent machinability and good corrosion resistance.

Choose Aluminum when low weight and high machinability are priorities.

Choose Stainless Steel when high strength and corrosion resistance are more important.

Choose Copper when maximum electrical or thermal conductivity is required.

Choose Carbon Steel when high strength and cost efficiency are the primary considerations.
