Product Introduction

What Are Copper CNC Machined Parts?

Copper CNC machined parts are precision components manufactured from copper or copper alloys using computer-controlled CNC machining processes. CNC turning, milling, drilling, threading, and multi-axis machining can produce complex geometries, accurate holes, threads, slots, grooves, and tight-tolerance features.

Copper is widely selected for CNC machining when a part requires high electrical conductivity, excellent thermal conductivity, corrosion resistance, and reliable dimensional stability. Common CNC-machined copper grades include C101, C102, C110, C122, and C145, with the appropriate grade depending on the electrical, thermal, mechanical, and machining requirements of the application.

Typical copper CNC machined parts include connectors, terminals, bushings, pins, shafts, fittings, busbar components, electrical contacts, heat-transfer components, and custom precision parts. Parts can be supplied from prototypes and low-volume batches to repeat production orders, with options for dimensional inspection and surface finishing.

Copper Material Types & Machining Features

Different copper grades offer different combinations of electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, strength, corrosion resistance, and machinability. Selecting the right grade is important for achieving the required part performance and machining quality.

Copper Grade Key Properties Machining Characteristics Typical CNC Parts
C101 / C10100 Very high electrical and thermal conductivity, high purity Excellent for precision machining, but relatively soft Electrical contacts, connectors, busbar components
C102 / C10200 High conductivity, oxygen-free copper Good dimensional stability and machinability Electrical components, conductive parts
C110 / C11000 High electrical and thermal conductivity, good corrosion resistance Widely machined copper grade; relatively ductile Terminals, connectors, busbars, fittings
C122 / C12200 Good conductivity, excellent weldability and formability Suitable for general CNC machining Fittings, heat-transfer components, HVAC parts
C145 / C14500 Good conductivity with improved machinability Leaded free-machining copper; easier chip formation Precision turned parts, connectors, pins, fittings

Machining Features by Copper Grade

High-Conductivity Copper - C101 / C102 / C110
Ideal when electrical or thermal conductivity is the primary requirement. These grades are commonly used for conductive components, terminals, contacts and heat-transfer parts.

Free-Machining Copper - C145
C145 contains tellurium, which improves machinability and chip control compared with commercially pure copper. It is particularly suitable for precision turned components with holes, threads and small features.

Phosphorus-Deoxidized Copper - C122
C122 offers a useful balance of conductivity, formability and weldability, making it suitable for fittings, tubing-related components and thermal management parts.
