What is a GR12 titanium tube?
Grade 12 titanium alloy is a titanium alloy with added molybdenum and nickel. It exhibits excellent corrosion resistance in both reducing and oxidizing environments and has better heat resistance than pure titanium alloys. Grade 12 titanium alloy is suitable for applications such as shell-and-tube heat exchangers and is commonly used in the chemical industry.
This near-alpha phase alloy contains acicular alpha phases, combining excellent high-temperature strength, good weldability, and resistance to crevice corrosion. The β-phase transformation temperature (F +/- 25) is 1634°C. The equiaxed alpha phase is mainly present in the weld or heat-affected zone, with a lower β-phase content. UNS R53400 Grade 12 titanium alloy is commonly used in applications requiring high temperature resistance, such as chemical manufacturing equipment with crevice corrosion problems, and ship and aircraft fuselage components. It is also suitable for weakly reducing or variable redox media, such as containers, heat exchangers, pumps, valves, pipes, and fittings.
