Titanium plates play a critical role across various industries due to their exceptional strength, corrosion resistance, and versatility. Whether you're sourcing materials for aerospace, automotive, or medical applications, understanding the titanium plate manufacturing process helps ensure that you get the performance and quality you need for your projects.
Hot Rolled Titanium Plate Production
When you're looking to source hot rolled titanium plates, the process typically starts with continuous casting or pre-rolled slabs. These are heated in a step-type furnace and descaled using high-pressure water jets to remove surface oxides. The material then goes through a roughing mill, where it is initially shaped, followed by trimming the head and tail sections before entering a finishing mill for precise computer-controlled rolling.
Once rolled, the titanium alloy plate is cooled using laminar flow and coiled. However, these initial coils often contain defects like tongue-shaped or fishtail ends, and may lack precise thickness and width tolerances.
To address this, coils undergo several finishing steps such as head/tail trimming, edge cutting, straightening, and flattening. These processes significantly improve surface quality and dimensional accuracy. The hot rolled coil can then be processed into flat titanium sheets, slitted strips, or further treated to become pickled and oiled hot rolled plates.

Cold Rolled Titanium Sheet Production
Cold rolled titanium sheets are made by acid-pickling hot-rolled strips to remove oxides, followed by cold tandem rolling. This process increases strength and hardness due to work hardening, but reduces ductility and formability, making them better suited for parts that require less deformation.
Despite this, cold rolled sheets offer superior surface quality, appearance, and dimensional accuracy compared to hot rolled plates. You can even source titanium sheet as thin as 0.18mm. After rolling, cold rolled titanium sheets typically go through annealing in continuous annealing lines or bell-type furnaces to remove internal stress and restore desired mechanical properties.
Cold-rolled titanium plates can be further processed into high-value-added products, such as electro-galvanized, hot-dip galvanized, fingerprint-resistant electro-galvanized, color-coated titanium coils and vibration-damping composite titanium plates, etc. These products not only have a beautiful appearance, but also have excellent corrosion resistance, and are widely used in the automotive, home appliance, and other industries.
Finishing treatment
After annealing, the cold-rolled titanium strip needs to be finished, including cutting the head, tail, edge, leveling, flattening, rewinding or slitting, etc. These treatments can further improve the dimensional accuracy and surface quality of the titanium plate to meet the needs of different customers.
Where Are Titanium Plates Used?
Both hot and cold rolled titanium plates are widely used in the automotive, electrical appliance, construction, furniture, and instrumentation industries. Typical bundles weigh between 3–5 tons, and coils range from 3 to 10 tons each.
Whether you're developing medical devices, building infrastructure, or engineering precision electronics, titanium's superior properties make it the ideal choice for your demanding applications.

Titanium product packaging
We place great emphasis on the transportation safety and delivery quality of our products. All titanium materials are packaged using strict industrial-grade solutions: titanium tubes and bars undergo anti-rust treatment, are tightly wrapped with waterproof stretch film, and then placed in reinforced wooden or iron boxes lined with moisture-proof paper, with fillers added to prevent sliding and collisions during transportation. Titanium plates and strips are covered with protective film, fitted with edge protectors, separated layer by layer with moisture-proof paper, loaded onto sturdy wooden or steel pallets, and securely fastened with steel straps. Fine titanium wires are neatly coiled onto specialized spools and encapsulated in sealed boxes that are waterproof and dustproof. Each packaging unit is accompanied by clear product labels, material certificates, and moisture-proof indicators, ensuring that the goods remain intact, clearly labeled, and safely delivered to global customers through long-distance sea freight and multimodal transportation.
