Titanium Welded Pipe
Titanium Welded Pipe offers a cost-effective alternative to seamless pipe for large-diameter applications where the economies of scale and manufacturing efficiency make welded construction the preferred choice. Manufactured from high-quality titanium strip or plate and formed into tubular shape with automated welding technology, welded titanium pipes deliver the same exceptional corrosion resistance and mechanical properties as seamless pipes at a significantly lower cost.
In the manufacture of titanium tubing, welding extends the length of the tube or keeps its shape intact. The oxide layer must be removed before welding titanium, just as it is with aluminum and stainless steel. However, welding titanium is very simple.
Titanium is a metal that combines with oxygen at ambient temperatures to form titanium dioxide. This is why titanium has good corrosion resistance. However, since the melting temperature of the external oxide layer is much higher than that of the base metal, it must be removed before welding. When heated, titanium combines with oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen and carbon to form oxide layers of varying thicknesses, which give titanium its many colors.
