Products Description
Since the corrosion resistance of GR1 titanium sheet depends on the oxide film, welding needs to be carried out in an inert atmosphere. Titanium and titanium alloys should not be used at excessively high temperatures; at 500°C, large amounts of hydrogen can penetrate internally; at about 600°C, large amounts of oxygen and nitrogen can penetrate and make the titanium brittle. As a general rule, it should only be used below 530°.
GR1 titanium sheet has excellent corrosion resistance in both oxidising and neutral media. It resists corrosion by seawater, various chlorides and hypochlorites, wet chlorine, oxidising acids (including fuming nitric acid), organic acids, alkalis and other substances. However, it is not resistant to corrosion by pure reducing acids (e.g., sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid), and if the acid contains oxidising agents (e.g., nitric acid, Fe, Cu), the corrosion resistance of titanium is greatly reduced.
