3.7165 is a titanium alloy with a titanium content of 88.74 - 91.0%. The titanium wire is also alloyed with approx. 5.50 - 6.75% aluminum and approx. 3.5 - 4.5% vanadium. Aluminum increases the scale resistance. Vanadium increases the high temperature strength and the tensile strength of the alloy. Titanium Grade 5 can be hardened and is easy to hot form. Ti6Al4V offers excellent weldability and shows excellent resistance to salt water and marine atmosphere. It also has high strength, good toughness and ductility. In addition, this alloy has excellent biocompatibility and is therefore accepted by the human body. Grade 5 titanium has good creep resistance up to approx. 300 ° C.
Because of its excellent biocompatibility, Ti6Al4V Grade 5 is used as an implant material in the medical field. 3.7165 is also used to manufacture high-strength parts and components for the aerospace industry, such as compressor blades, housings and screws for engines.
