Titanium Welding Wire
Titanium wire is a thin, strong metal wire made from titanium, with a diameter less than 0.500" (12.7mm). It may be supplied in coil or straight lengths depending on size and application. It's often used in the aerospace industry due to its extreme strength and lightweight properties. Titanium is also resistant to corrosion and extremely durable, making it an excellent choice for many critical applications.

How is titanium wire made?
According to a titanium wire supplier in Gary, Indiana, the production process starts by melting down titanium ore or scrap into liquid form. The molten titanium is then poured into molds, where it cools and hardens into ingots. Once hardened, the ingots are hot forged and/or hot rolled into smaller diameter rods that can be further worked.
Next, the rods are taken to a rolling mill and heated until they reach a plastic state known as recrystallization temperature (RTP). From here, the rods are rolled into thin wires of any desired diameter. The wire is then cooled, hardened, and either wound on to coils or cut to a specific length as needed.
Finally, the titanium wire is polished and inspected for quality before it's ready to be used in applications such as aerospace engineering or medical implants.
