What is Grade 2 Titanium Pipe?
Grade 2 titanium tubing is a commercially pure titanium alloy containing small amounts of iron, oxygen, and other components. Grade 2 titanium tubing is currently the most commonly used titanium alloy and is approved for use in sour service systems. These tubing offers enhanced resistance to corrosive wastewater in harsh environments. Its high strength makes it suitable for high-pressure and high-temperature applications. This lightweight tubing offers a superior strength-to-weight ratio. It is biocompatible and can be used to transport both liquids and gases within the system.
A Titanium Grade 2 Tube possesses higher strength than a pipe but is generally seen in use in smaller diameter applications. These tubes can be both hot and cold rolled and subsequently galvanized. The Astm B338 Grade 2 Titanium Tube has good ductility and cold formability. These tubes allow for a better welding process, following standard fabrication procedures. A CP Grade 2 Titanium Tubing is slightly difficult to cast due to its superior strength. This tubing is slightly expensive as it is rare. The Titanium Alloy Gr 2 Hollow Pipe has a minimum tensile strength of 485mpa with a minimum yield strength of 345mpa and has an elongation at a break of 28%. These pipes have a hardness between 160 to 200 HV.
What is Titanium Grade 2 Seamless Pipe?
A titanium gr 2 seamless pipe is a single piece of metal produced via an extrusion process. The Titanium Grade 2 Seamless Pipe is manufactured in sizes of 24 inches or less. These pipes possess superior strength and are less prone to corrosion. The pipes have a rough surface due to the extrusion process. They are slightly more expensive than a Titanium Gr 2 Erw Pipe but are seen in higher pressure and temperature applications. The production process of a seamless pipe is also complex and long in comparison to a UNS R50400 Efw Pipe. They are also less available due to the limited material type, making them the most sought-after in the industry.
