What is the difference between titanium gr1 and gr2?

Titanium grades are based on its compositional purity. An alloy's purity can be determined by how much iron and other impurities it contains. The grade of titanium Gr 2 Round Bars is typically used to determine its quality, and there are three grades.

The alloy Grade 1 is extremely pure, with less than 0.7 percent iron, 0.5 percent nickel, less than 0.5 percent vanadium, less than 0.2 percent manganese, less than 0.1 percent cobalt, and less than 0.05 percent chromium.

As a grade 2, this alloy is slightly lower in purity and contains between 0.7 percent and 2 percent, with an approximate weight range between 80 percent and 90 percent. Titanium Gr 2 Round Bar are used are petrochemical, pharmaceuticals, oil and gas, pulp and paper, chemical specialty, seawater equipment and so on.

The Differences Between Titanium Grade 1 and Titanium Grade 2

Which Grade is Better For Surgical Applications Gr. 2 or Gr. 1

The properties of Ti alloys 1 and 2 are similar. As a result of its slightly increased strength, option 2 is preferred for surgical applications. Because of their anti-corrosion characteristics, grade 2 materials can be used for surgical equipment, dental implants, and prosthetic rods and pins.

Comparison of Titanium Grade 1 Standard with Grade 2 Standard

Known as the UNS R50400 and European Standard EN 10204-3.1, titanium grade 2 is metal. It addresses ASTM F-67, ASME SB-337, ASME SB-338, ASME SB-348, ASME SB-363, ASME SB-265, ASME SB-381, ASME SB-337, and ASME SB-337 requirements.

The European Standard EN 3.7025, UNS R50250, is used to identify titanium grade 1. It addresses ASME SB-363, SB-381, AMS 4942, SB-337, SB-338, SB-348, ASTM F-67, AMS 4921, SB-265, AMS 4902, SB-337, and SB-338 standards.

Comparison in Titanium Grade 1 and Grade 2 Weight

Compared to titanium grade 2, titanium grade 1 is lighter. Titanium grade 1 weighs 9–10 grams per cubic centimeter, while titanium grade 2 weighs between 3.5–4.5 grams.

Comparison of Titanium Grade 1 and Grade 2 Melting Point

The melting point of titanium grade 1 is 4,200°F and that of titanium grade 2 is 5,000°F. For applications that require a wide temperature range, titanium grade 1 can be used if the difference between the temperature ranges is 200°F, whereas titanium grade 2 can be used in applications that require a narrower temperature range if the difference is 700°F.

Titanium is a particularly durable metal that has long been utilized in the aerospace sector. Additionally, it is the metal that is most frequently utilized in the manufacture of cars, ships, and even airplanes. Titanium is a fantastic material to utilize in these applications since it is both incredibly lightweight and corrosion resistant.

Round bars made of titanium Grade 1 are more than twice as strong as regular round bars. They have been heat treated to boost their strength and hardness, making them much more durable than traditional round bars.

Despite being less expensive than titanium grade 1 round bars, titanium grade 2 round bars still have several advantages over other types of steel, such as carbon steel or stainless steel.
