TA18 is a near-alpha titanium alloy, primarily composed of Ti-3Al-2.5V. In contrast, TC4 is an (α+β) titanium alloy, composed of Ti-6Al-4V. These two titanium alloys differ in composition, leading to differences in their performance and applications.

First, TA18 titanium alloy tubes outperform TC4 in terms of weldability and cold forming properties. However, TC4 titanium alloy exhibits superior overall mechanical properties. This difference gives each alloy advantages in different applications.

TA18 titanium alloy tubes exhibit excellent cold formability and weldability, as well as room temperature strength that is 20% to 50% higher than commercially pure titanium, and exhibit excellent corrosion resistance in a wide range of media. Therefore, it is an ideal material for high-pressure, lightweight ducting used in aircraft.

TC4 titanium alloy, as a heat-treated, hardened titanium alloy, offers excellent weldability, sheet formability, and forging properties. This has led to its widespread use in the aerospace sector, such as in the manufacture of jet engine compressor blades and impellers. TC4 titanium alloy is also widely used in landing gear wheels and structural components, fasteners, brackets, aircraft accessories, frames, stringer structures, and piping.

TA18 alloy is a low-alloyed, near-alpha titanium alloy with excellent overall properties, making it particularly suitable for the production of high-pressure, lightweight ducting for aircraft. TC4 titanium alloy, on the other hand, has been successfully applied in a variety of sectors, including aerospace, petrochemicals, shipbuilding, automotive, and pharmaceuticals, thanks to its excellent corrosion resistance, low density, high specific strength, and good toughness and weldability. Each of these titanium alloys has its own strengths and plays an important role in different fields.
