Grade 9 titanium alloy is an α-type titanium alloy with a nominal composition of Ti-3Al-2.5V, developed for cold-workable tubing applications. Its strength at room and high temperatures is 20%-50% higher than pure titanium, and its weldability and cold-forming properties are superior to TC4 alloy. The maximum operating temperature is approximately 315℃. Improving its strength through targeted heat treatment (age hardening) is virtually impossible. Its already excellent corrosion resistance can be further enhanced by adding small amounts of Pd (0.05%) or Ru (0.1%). Although its strength is not as high as TC4 alloy, its excellent cold-working properties make it widely used.
