In April 2026, a delegation of Korean customers visited our company for an on-site inspection and business negotiation. During this visit, both parties reached a cooperation意向 on GR5 (Ti-6Al-4V) titanium bar products and formally signed a procurement agreement.
Accompanied by our relevant department heads, the customers toured the following production workshops and testing facilities:
Melting Workshop
The customers observed the operation of the Vacuum Arc Remelting (VAR) furnace. Our technical staff explained the entire process from sponge titanium electrode pressing, melting, to ingot casting. The customers showed interest in vacuum degree control and composition uniformity assurance measures during the melting process, and reviewed chemical composition test records from multiple batches of ingots on-site.
Forging Production Line
The customers spent the most time in front of the 2,500-ton high-speed forging press. Our team demonstrated the entire process from ingot to bar, including cogging, upsetting, and elongating, and explained the calculation method of forging ratio and its effect on grain refinement. The customer's technical lead inquired on-site about the forging temperature ranges and cooling methods for different bar specifications, and our engineers answered each question in detail.
Heat Treatment Workshop
The customers toured the roller hearth heat treatment furnace and vacuum annealing furnace, focusing on the solution treatment and aging process parameters for GR5 titanium bars. The customers reviewed the temperature curve recording system of the heat treatment equipment and confirmed full traceability capability.
Non-Destructive Testing Center
At the Ultrasonic Testing (UT) station, our quality inspector performed a flaw detection demonstration on an 80mm diameter GR5 titanium bar, while the customers simultaneously watched the defect echo signals on the display screen. The customers also visited the Eddy Current Testing (ET) and Penetrant Testing (PT) equipment, learning about the inspection methods for different specifications and surface conditions.
Physical and Chemical Laboratory
The customers toured equipment including the optical emission spectrometer, universal testing machine, and metallographic microscope. They randomly reviewed mechanical property reports and metallographic structure photos from three batches of GR5 titanium bars on-site, expressing satisfaction with grain size rating and β-phase distribution.

Following the tour, both parties held a dedicated business meeting, primarily discussing the following:
I. Technical Standards and Acceptance Terms
The customers requested compliance with ASTM B348 standards, but with additional stricter dimensional tolerances: diameter tolerance of ±0.1mm (standard is ±0.2mm), length tolerance of ±2mm. Our company confirmed we can meet these requirements and presented test data from similar orders as supporting evidence.
II. Testing Certification and Third-Party Inspection
The customers requested EN 10204 3.1 inspection certificates and specified that SGS Korea branch would be engaged for pre-shipment inspection. Both parties reached agreement on sampling plans, test items (chemical composition, room temperature tensile strength, hardness, ultrasonic testing), and acceptance criteria.
III. Packaging and Marking
The customers proposed specific packaging requirements: each titanium bar individually wrapped in plastic film, multi-layer packing, reinforced with wooden crates. Markings must include material grade, dimensions, heat number, order number, and QR code (traceable to original test reports). Our company confirmed the packaging solution is feasible.
IV. Delivery and Logistics
The initial order consists of four specifications: diameters 20mm, 40mm, 60mm, and 80mm, totaling 18 tons, with delivery required to reach Busan Port, South Korea within 60 days. Our company responded that we could reduce the lead time to 50 days, which the customers accepted.
The customers disclosed that their company has an annual demand of approximately 150-200 tons of GR5 titanium bars, primarily used for medical device and aerospace component manufacturing. If the initial order is executed smoothly, both parties will sign an annual framework agreement with quarterly rolling orders.
After the meeting, representatives from both parties formally signed the GR5 titanium bar procurement agreement. The customer representative stated at the signing: "Today's visit has given us a comprehensive understanding of your production capabilities and quality management. Every step, from melting to testing, is recorded and traceable. This is exactly the partner we have been looking for."
