① gr1 pure titanium tensile strength of 265 ~ 353MPa, general titanium alloys for 686 ~ 1176MPa, the current maximum of 1764MPa. titanium alloys and many steel strength is comparable, but the specific strength of steel is far less than titanium alloys.
② The compressive strength of titanium and titanium alloys is not less than their tensile strength. The compressive yield strength and tensile yield strength of industrially pure titanium are roughly equal, while the compressive strength of Ti-6AI-4V and Ti-5AI-2.5Sn is slightly higher than the tensile strength.
Shear strength is generally 60% to 70% of the tensile strength. The compressive yield strength of titanium and titanium alloy sheet is about 1.2 to 2.0 times of the tensile strength.
④ Under normal atmospheric atmosphere, the endurance limit of processed and annealed titanium and titanium alloys is 0.5 to 0.65 tensile strength. The endurance limit of annealed Ti-6AI-4V is 0.2 times the tensile strength when fatigue testing is performed 10 million times in the notched condition (Kt=3.9).
⑤ The hardness of the highest purity grade of processed industrially pure titanium is usually less than 120 HB (Brinell), and the hardness of other industrially pure processed titanium is 200 to 295 HB. The hardness of pure titanium castings is 200 to 220 HB. The hardness value of titanium alloys in the annealed condition is 32 to 38 HRC (Rockwell), which is equivalent to 298 to 349 HB. The hardness values of cast Ti-5Al-2.5Sn and Ti-6AI-4V are equivalent to 398 to 349 HB. Ti-6AI-4V in cast form have a hardness of 320HB, and the hardness of low-gap impurity Ti-6Al-4V castings is 310HB.
