Titanium Grade 2 Weld Wire
What is Titanium Grade 2 Welding Wire?
Gr2 ERTi-2 Titanium Wire is a kind of pure titanium welding wire for commercial use. Compared with TA1 welding wire, its impurity content is less, it has good mechanical properties and excellent welding process performance. It is used for titanium alloy welding, mainly seawater and brine heat exchanger, condenser and paper bleaching system.
Key Features
Excellent Corrosion Resistance:
Outstanding performance in seawater, chlorides, nitric acid, and industrial chemicals-ideal for aggressive environments
Balanced Mechanical Properties:
Good strength combined with moderate ductility for reliable weld joints
Superior Weldability:
Stable arc, excellent wetting characteristics, and minimal spatter
Lightweight:
Approximately 40% lighter than steel filler metals
Oxide Self-Healing:
Spontaneously forms protective oxide layer when exposed to oxygen or moisture

Titanium Grade 2 Coil Wire is the best cp titanium grade, where it is the softest and most ductile compared to grades. Typical applications for Titanium Grade 2 Wire include chemical process, petroleum refining, biomedical as well as heat exchangers in an array of different applications. Titanium Grade 2 is light in weight, has extraordinary corrosion resistance, and has the ability to withstand extreme temperatures. Grade 2 Titanium Wire is used commonly in applications that require welding because of its strong weldability properties. Titanium Grade 2 Filler Wire is higher in strength than CP Grade 1, but lower in strength than CP Gr 4.

FAQ
Q1: What is the difference between Grade 1 and Grade 2 titanium welding wire?
Grade 1 has lower oxygen and iron content (O ≤ 0.18%, Fe ≤ 0.20%) than Grade 2 (O ≤ 0.25%, Fe ≤ 0.30%). Grade 1 offers higher ductility and formability with slightly lower strength. Grade 2 provides a better balance of strength and ductility for most industrial applications.
Q2: Can Grade 2 welding wire be used for welding other titanium grades?
Yes, Grade 2 wire is suitable for welding:
Grade 1 and Grade 2 base metals
Grade 3 and Grade 4 for non-critical applications
Not recommended for welding high-strength alloys like Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V)
Q3: What shielding gas purity is required?
Minimum 99.995% pure argon is essential. Lower purity can cause embrittlement and contamination. Oxygen content should be below 20 ppm, moisture below 10 ppm.
Q4: How do I prevent weld contamination?
Use dedicated stainless steel tools for titanium only
Clean with acetone (no chlorinated solvents)
Maintain adequate gas coverage during welding and cooling
Use trailing and backup gas for critical welds
Protect weld until temperature drops below 300°C
