What is GR6 titanium?
Abbreviated as Gr6 or Gr.6, Grade 6 alloy is a medium-strength α-type titanium alloy (Ti-5Al-2.5Sn). It is not heat-treatable for strengthening and is typically used in the annealed state. It offers good fracture toughness at both room and elevated temperatures. This alloy possesses excellent fusion welding capabilities, suitable for tungsten inert gas (TIG) and metal inert gas (MIG) welding processes under inert gas protection. It can be used to manufacture components such as casing shells and wall panels.
The alloy can operate at temperatures up to 500°C for long-term service, with short-term service temperatures reaching 800°C. The low-interstitial impurity version, TA7ELI alloy, is suitable for use at cryogenic temperatures. Semi-finished products include plate, bar, disc, and ring forms, and it can also be used to produce castings.
Melting and Casting Processes
Ingot Melting: Ingots should be melted at least twice using a vacuum consumable electrode arc furnace. Alloying elements Al and Sn are added in the form of an Al-Sn master alloy. Plasma arc welding with argon gas protection must be used for welding consumable electrodes; tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding is strictly prohibited for this purpose.
Casting: Castings are produced using vacuum consumable electrode arc skull furnaces with mold types including machined graphite, rammed graphite, metal molds, and investment casting molds.

Corrosion Resistance
Grade 6 alloy is stable in atmospheric conditions and seawater. However, compared to TC4 alloy, it is more susceptible to hot salt stress corrosion. The alloy can develop stress corrosion when exposed for 100 hours in an environment heavily coated with artificial sea salt, under a stress of 207 MPa and at 316°C.
Weldability
This alloy has good welding properties. Using inert gas-protected tungsten inert gas (TIG) or metal inert gas (MIG) welding can impart high toughness to the alloy at low temperatures. Brazing is generally avoided as it can cause embrittlement related to intermetallic compounds; therefore, arc welding, spot welding, and seam welding are typically employed.
Arc Welded Joints: Exhibit relatively high strength coefficients at room temperature, high temperature, and low temperature.
Seam Welded Joints: Exhibit relatively high strength coefficients at room temperature and high temperature, but a lower strength coefficient at low temperature.
Our factory
Our factory specializes in the field of international trade of titanium materials, professionally producing high-quality series products such as titanium tubes, titanium bars, titanium plates, titanium wires, and titanium strips. The factory is equipped with internationally advanced production and testing equipment, including precision forging units, high-speed cold rolling mills, vacuum melting furnaces, CNC spinning machines, continuous drawing production lines, and automated surface treatment systems. Coupled with precision testing instruments such as spectrometers and ultrasonic flaw detectors, we ensure precise control over the entire process from raw materials to finished products. We are committed to providing global customers with titanium products that offer excellent performance and a complete range of specifications through stable and reliable processes and strict quality management, meeting the application needs of high-end industries such as energy, chemical, aerospace, and medical fields.

Titanium product packaging
We place great emphasis on the transportation safety and delivery quality of our products. All titanium materials are packaged using strict industrial-grade solutions: titanium tubes and bars undergo anti-rust treatment, are tightly wrapped with waterproof stretch film, and then placed in reinforced wooden or iron boxes lined with moisture-proof paper, with fillers added to prevent sliding and collisions during transportation. Titanium plates and strips are covered with protective film, fitted with edge protectors, separated layer by layer with moisture-proof paper, loaded onto sturdy wooden or steel pallets, and securely fastened with steel straps. Fine titanium wires are neatly coiled onto specialized spools and encapsulated in sealed boxes that are waterproof and dustproof. Each packaging unit is accompanied by clear product labels, material certificates, and moisture-proof indicators, ensuring that the goods remain intact, clearly labeled, and safely delivered to global customers through long-distance sea freight and multimodal transportation.
