Titanium and its alloys exhibit extremely high corrosion resistance, particularly in corrosive environments such as seawater. They can withstand seawater erosion, extending the service life of nuclear submarines. The application of titanium and its alloys in components directly exposed to seawater-such as the external hull, seawater pipelines, condensers, and heat exchangers-effectively enhances the submarine's corrosion resistance.




Heat and Low-Temperature Resistance
Titanium demonstrates far superior heat resistance compared to aluminum alloys and stainless steel. Titanium alloys can operate at temperatures up to 500°C, enabling them to maintain stable performance even in high-temperature environments within nuclear submarines. Meanwhile, certain titanium alloys retain excellent plasticity and toughness at low temperatures, making them suitable for manufacturing critical components operating under extreme cold conditions.
Non-Magnetic Properties
Titanium is a non-magnetic material, which makes nuclear submarines harder to detect by enemy forces during navigation, thereby improving their stealth and survivability. The use of titanium and its alloys in key components such as whip antennas and communication equipment helps reduce electromagnetic interference and signal leakage.
