Oil Extraction and Offshore Platforms
An American company utilized seamless titanium alloy tubes to manufacture nearly 500-meter-long riser pipes for offshore drilling platforms. These riser pipes are lightweight, possess high fracture toughness, and have a long fatigue life, significantly reducing ballast costs. Ti-6Al-4V (Gr.5) alloy is the optimal material for drilling pipes, as its yield strength and fatigue strength are highly suitable for drilling applications. Additionally, small titanium components such as pumps, valves, connectors, and fasteners are widely used on oil extraction platforms.
